Here's how it works: In this example suppose you have a JVC VCR, a Panasonic VCR, a DVD Recorder and a Magnavox HDD recorder.

Hook them into the switcher and designate each of them with a number. We like to put a numbered sticker on each of the machines, like this:

JVC VCR #1,  Panasonic VCR #2,  DVD Recorder #3,  Magnavox HDD #4

To play the Panasonic VCR into the Magnavox HDD press "4 then 2"

To play the JVC VCR into the Magnavox HDD press "4 then 1"

To play the Panasonic VCR simultaneously  into both the DVD recorder and also the Magnaxox HDD, press "3 then 2" and also press "4 then 2"
