Murder at the Vanities (collectible VHS tape)

"Murder at the Vanities"  (1934)

stars Jack Oakie, Kitty Carlisle, Carl Brisson and Duke Ellington and his Orchestra

This one-of-a-kind story is based on Earl Carroll's famed early thirties Broadway review. It's the kind of musical they just don't make anymore as Ellington and company belt out standards like "Cocktails for Two" while a killer attempts to bring the curtain down on the all-singing, all-dancing stars. To keep the body count to as minimum, hard nosed detective Victor McLaglen is on the case trying to find out who's doing in the show's stars. Everyone's a suspect in this high-stepping, high-hatted mystery that's packed with lots of songs and superbly staged productions numbers.
