*** Cold Weather Alert *** If you receive a VCR package this week, be sure to allow a couple of hours until it reaches room temperature. The video drum will be very cold causing moisture to condense on it. This can make videotapes stick and gum up video heads!

Videocorders (reel to reel)

Most 1/2" reel to reel videocorders (VTRs) were manufactured between 1965 and 1971. Some VTR tapes were recorded in the Sony CV "skip-field" format. Other tapes are often in the more popular  EIAJ format, used in many videocorders manufactured after 1970. Unfortunately the formats aren't interchangeable and you'll need the correct machine to playback your particular tape. If you're confused about which 1/2" videotape recorder you need, please read our article or contact our technician for advice.
